Keeping Track of Keeping On Track
Since my sick and tired gallbladder was removed from my body, I have continued to drop weight. I'm down to 112 pounds! At 5'8" and breastfeeding, this is a serious problem. So, I am going to write down everything I eat here, and hopefully, it'll help me gain (quick calculation in head) 20 pounds. This is just to provide a central spot for my records, one that I can't lose. At the moment I'm munching some almonds....

Greetings from the middle of nowhere
Hello, friends; or, friend; or, just me, since so far I'm the only one who knows that this place exists. Salutations from... the middle of nowhere! A friend of mine pointed me in the direction of NaBloWriMo -- National Blog Writing Month -- and I decided to give it a shot. Well, I've already lost, because it's the 9th and this is my first post. I have decided to cut myself some slack and blame it on the kid. My son, Gabriel, just hit the six months mark on Sunday (yaaay I haven't screwed up too badly yet!) and while he is the most easy going little dude imaginable, he's still a lot of work, so my me-time is extremely limited. Wow, that sentence had a slew of commas. I should be ashamed. Anyway....
As this is the first installment, let's get some basics out of the way, shall we? Critter (that's Gabe) and I are staying with our awesomely hospitable friends here in Kentucky, while Adam (the Father of the Critter) is alllll the way on the other side of the country in San Diego. He's in training right now, but when he finishes that he will be a sonar tech in the Navy (and an E-4). I'm so incredibly proud that he belongs to me. This arrangement will last another two months (he's been gone for five), and then we finally, FINALLY all get to live together again in sunny California and live happily ever after.
And that, folks, is why I'm blogging. I am unemployed, transiently housed, and without the love of my life to entertain me. The main goal of this blog is to jot down my experiences as a new mom, so I can copy the highlights into Gabriel's History of Me journal I'm putting together for him.
Well, I suppose that's a decent start. How do you wrap these things up, anyway? This is Rebecca B. signing off? 'Till next time, campers? Do I need a catchphrase, like Will Ferrell suggests in anchorman? Anyway, ttfn.
